Hotel/Motel Tax Revenue

Lynnwood received $454,130 in hotel/motel tax in 2009, down 21.41% compared to 2008.  This is attributable to the economy and reduction in business and pleasure travel.  Lynnwood receivees more lodging tax than any other Snohomish County city.  Everett, with $273,102 annual receipts, is the second largest collector followed by Bothell with $135,993.

Hotel Occupancy Rates

2009 hotel occupancy in Lynnwood was 66%, 7% higher than the rest of Snohomish County but 5% less than in 2008.  The drop in occupancy is attributed to the lack of Lynnwood inventory, saturation rates and a slow economy.

Compared to other Washington State counties, Snohomish County tied with Thurston at 61% occupancy.  King County, the highest of all the counties, was at 62% occupancy in 2009.

Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR)

The City of Lynnwood hotel ADR in 2009 was $99.35 a 10.1% decrease from 2008.  The remainder of the Snohomish County had an ADR of $84.85.

The RevPAR in Lynnwood dropped 15.5% compared to 2008 to $65.81.  The County RevPAR in 2009 dropped 14.9% to $51.34.

The Lynnwood ADR and RevPAR were higher than countywide figures in 2009 in keeping with historical trends.
